The UA16-30-10RA 400-415V 50Hz / 415-440V 60Hz is a 3-pole contactor designed for capacitor switching, suitable for installations where the peak current greatly exceeds 100 times the nominal RMS current. The contactors come complete with damping resistors and should be used without additional inductances. The capacitors must be fully discharged (with a maximum residual voltage of ≤ 50 V) before re-energizing when the contactors are activated. These contactors offer an electrical durability of 250,000 operating cycles for Ue < 500 V and 100,000 operating cycles for 500 V ≤ Ue ≤ 690 V. The UA..RA contactors feature a special front-mounted block that ensures the series insertion of 3 damping resistors into the circuit, which helps limit the current peak during the capacitor bank’s energization. This design also facilitates capacitor precharging to reduce the second current peak that occurs when the main poles are closed. The resistors effectively dampen the highest current peak during capacitor switching, regardless of its level. The UA..RA series contactors are block-type, with 3 main poles, 1 built-in auxiliary contact, and an AC-operated control circuit with a laminated magnet.
