The UA63..RA 3-pole contactors are designed for capacitor switching and can be used in installations where the peak current significantly exceeds 100 times the nominal RMS current. These contactors come equipped with damping resistors and must be used without additional inductances. Before re-energizing, capacitors must be fully discharged, ensuring a maximum residual voltage of ≤ 50V at the terminals. They offer an electrical durability of 250,000 operating cycles for Ue < 500V and 100,000 cycles for 500V ≤ Ue ≤ 690V. The UA..RA contactors feature a special front-mounted block that enables the serial insertion of three damping resistors, effectively limiting the current peak during capacitor bank energization. This design also facilitates capacitor precharging, reducing the secondary current peak upon activation of the main poles. The resistors help mitigate the highest current peaks regardless of their level. The UA..RA series is of block-type design and includes three main poles, an AC-operated control circuit with a laminated magnet circuit, and compatibility with a wide range of accessories.
