The AF16 4-pole contactors are designed for controlling power circuits up to 690 V AC and 440 V DC, and are primarily used for handling non-inductive or slightly inductive loads, such as resistance furnaces. Featuring ABB’s advanced AF technology, these contactors include an electronic coil interface that supports a wide control voltage range. With just four coil variants, they can cover control voltages from 24 to 500 V AC (50/60 Hz) and 20 to 500 V DC, enabling a single coil to operate under various global voltage conditions without the need for coil replacement. This design simplifies installation, reduces inventory complexity, and allows the contactors to manage significant voltage fluctuations. Built-in surge protection eliminates the requirement for external suppressors, ensuring a compact and efficient solution. The AF series contactors are of block-type construction and include 2 normally open (N.O.) and 2 normally closed (N.C.) main poles, along with provisions for front and side-mounted auxiliary contact blocks. The auxiliary contacts are mechanically linked, compliant with Annex L of IEC 60947-5-1, while the N.C. mirror contacts meet the requirements of Annex F of IEC 60947-4-1. These contactors can be operated with both AC and DC control circuits and are compatible with a wide range of accessories for flexible application.
