The UA16..RA 3-pole contactors are designed for capacitor switching in installations where peak currents exceed 100 times the nominal RMS current. Supplied with damping resistors, they must be used without additional inductances. To ensure safe operation, capacitors must be discharged (maximum residual voltage ≤ 50V) before re-energizing. These contactors offer an electrical durability of 250,000 operating cycles for voltages below 500V and 100,000 cycles for 500V to 690V. A specialized front-mounted block enables the serial insertion of three damping resistors, limiting current peaks during capacitor bank energization and facilitating capacitor precharging to reduce secondary current peaks. Featuring a block-type design, they include three main poles, one built-in auxiliary contact, an AC-operated control circuit with a laminated magnet core, and compatibility with a wide range of accessories for enhanced functionality.
