The RC5-1/133 is an RC-type surge suppressor designed to reduce peak overvoltage and eliminate high pre-damping voltage frequencies when used with AC-operated conventional contactors rated for control circuit voltages between 50 and 133 V AC at 50/60Hz. Inductive circuit operation, particularly when opening a contactor coil, generates overvoltages as stored electromagnetic energy is released, causing surges that can reach several kilovolts.
