The RC5-1/440 is an RC-type surge suppressor designed to minimize peak overvoltage and eliminate high pre-damping voltage frequencies when used with AC-operated conventional contactors rated for control circuit voltages between 250 and 440 V AC at 50/60Hz. Inductive circuit operation, especially when opening a contactor coil, generates overvoltages as stored electromagnetic energy is released, resulting in surges that can reach several kilovolts. These surges can lead to electronic interference, insulation breakdown, or even damage to sensitive components.
