The UA26..RA 3-pole contactors are specially engineered for capacitor switching in installations where peak inrush currents can exceed 100 times the nominal RMS current. Supplied with integrated damping resistors, these contactors must be operated without any additional inductances (refer to the table below for specifics). To ensure safe operation, capacitors must be discharged before re-energization, with the residual voltage at the terminals not exceeding 50 V when the contactor closes.
These contactors offer excellent electrical durability, with up to 250,000 operating cycles for voltages below 500 V and 100,000 cycles for voltages between 500 V and 690 V. Each UA..RA contactor features a front-mounted block that inserts three damping resistors in series to limit the initial inrush current during capacitor bank energization. This configuration also enables precharging of the capacitors, which helps minimize the secondary current peak that occurs when the main poles close.
By incorporating damping resistors, the contactor effectively reduces even the highest inrush current levels during switching. The UA..RA series features a compact block-type design, includes three main poles and one built-in auxiliary contact, and operates on an AC control circuit with a laminated magnet system.
