The UA50..RA 3-pole contactors are specifically designed for capacitor switching applications and can be used in installations where peak currents exceed 100 times the nominal RMS current. These contactors come with built-in damping resistors and must be used without additional inductances (refer to the table below). To ensure safe operation, capacitors must be discharged to a maximum residual voltage of ≤ 50V before re-energizing. The electrical durability of these contactors is rated at 250,000 operating cycles for voltages below 500V and 100,000 cycles for voltages between 500V and 690V.
Equipped with a specially designed front-mounted block, the UA..RA contactors enable the serial insertion of three damping resistors to effectively limit current peaks during capacitor bank energization. This configuration also ensures capacitor precharging, reducing the secondary current peak when the main poles engage. The resistors play a crucial role in dampening the highest current peaks during switching, regardless of intensity.
Designed in a block-type configuration, these contactors feature three main poles and an AC-operated control circuit with a laminated magnet core. Additionally, a wide range of accessories is available to enhance their functionality and adaptability for various industrial applications.
